Twitter & Facebook - An Awesome Pair for Business Building

How can Twitter and Facebook help you grow your business? Well, considering that Facebook alone has 200 MILLION users and Twitter is likewise growing by leaps and bounds, building a highly targetted list using these web 2.0 tools is very much possible! And best of all, it’s FREE!

These tools are also very effective for keeping up with your customers, vendors, prospects, and friends, brand building, relationship building, joint ventures, partnerships, special projects… name it, these web 2.0 tools can do it! You just have to learn how to harness power of these resources and apply them effectively, and you’re all set for success.

If you’re thinking that social networking is just for the younger set, think again - my MOM (and her friends) just got into Facebook! And before you and I know it, even our GRANDMAS will be joining us in these social networks, too. After all, it’s simple, it’s powerful and  it’s FUN!

Technology has given us so many ways to communicate. It’s easy now. It’s fast. It’s everywhere. And now - it IS mainstream.

But, hey! Are we really adding people into our lives who share our values? Or merely collecting a list of profiles for our own mailing list? Are we building relationships or just spamming and wasting other people’s time and space? Think about it…

It was said that the quality of our lives is closely related to the quality of our relationships. I don’t know if you believe it but I do.

Your relationships are only as strong or as deep as you choose to make them. Neglect them and they perish. Take time to nurture them, and they flourish.

So, what does it have to do with web 2.0? Well, a lot. You can use resources such as Facebook and Twitter to instantly share your life with other people on a global scale. Use it to touch people, add value to their lives and reach them in a more meaningful way.

In the coming weeks I’ll be sharing with you tools, strategies and ideas for building your network of resources so you can develop even more beneficial connections. We’ll share ideas for expanding your personal brand, creating your own community that brings value to people personally and professionally and allows you and others to grow and contribute.

There are a variety of effortless ways you can make contributions by mentoring and sharing ideas with others and by sharing in the interests and passions of others as well. The whole idea is to use these tools not just to correspond, but the really connect with others.

It’s all about creating more of a personal meaning and a life of purpose… and it’s fun.

More notes coming in the days and weeks ahead and we’ll take it a bit deeper too.
For now, I highly suggest you get yourself a Facebook and Twitter account. They’re both free.

Set up your profiles. Upload your picture.

Grab this free software for twitter:

TweetLater
TweetDeck

Follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

While you’re at it, find 10 influential people in your niche - leaders, movers and shakers. Follow them. And begin to follow some of their followers. Aim for 25 - 50 per day. This sets the whole viral web in motion, you’ll see.

Listen in and contribute. Pay attention.

In the next blog I’ll show you a neat tactic to automatically LINK your twitter followers and have them also “friend” you at Facebook. And we’ll start having fun with this.

TweetDeck is a nice organizational tool. You’ll be able to contribute better, organize stuff on twitter and get “in the game” without getting lost.

Talk again soon!
